Dra. Elena Orgilés Calpena
Doctor in Materials Sciences from the University of Alicante. She is an R&D researcher for Polymers and Adhesives at INESCOP. Currently, I am deputy director of Materials and Technology at INESCOP.
For much of my professional career I have been a researcher in the INESCOP Polymers and Adhesives R&D department, working on different lines of research related to analytical technologies for characterization, quality control of polymeric materials and adhesives, improvement of durability and implementation of industrial sustainability in the footwear sector, among others.
The lines of research and specialization that I dominate are: polymer synthesis, nanotechnology applied to footwear, sustainable adhesives for the footwear industry, surface treatments to improve adhesion, characterization of polymeric materials, quality tests on footwear materials, polymer synthesis biodegradable, from renewable sources or using CO2 as raw material.
My participation in European, national and regional projects related to advanced materials, nanotechnology, sustainable technologies, advanced manufacturing or robotics is very active.
I teach classes in the "Master in Design, New Technologies and Innovation Management in the footwear sector" at the University of Alicante, the only expert degree in footwear from a public university in Spain.
In addition, I am the author of more than 60 scientific-technical articles published in prestigious national and international journals, as well as monographs and book chapters on adhesives and footwear manufacturing.
I have participated in more than 60 national and international conferences and exhibitions on polymers, adhesives and nanotechnology. I am the author of the utility model "Removable antibacterial footwear" (nº U202031159).
I am part of the Working Group "CO2 as a raw material" in the Spanish Technological Platform for Sustainable Chemistry "SusChem". Also from the Spanish Adhesion and Adhesives Group (GEAA) and the European Committee for Standardization (CEN/TC 193) in the working group that prepares European standards for adhesives.
